This is just a little from my grandpa ponds journal or letters or whatever it is.
"World War II broke out four months after we were married and I was drafted into the service October 8, 1942 and entered active service October 22, 1942. I was sent to scott field, Illinois and attended radio machanics and operation from which I graduated as a radio mehcanic in the United States Air Force. I was then sent to Boca Raten, Florida where I attended and graduated from radio school.
In February 1944 I was sent overseas and began this duty at Wheeler Field on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I was later transfered to Hickam Field to complete another course in radio maintinance. My pacific tour of duty took me to Kwajalin, Saipan, (Something that looks like gus but I can't read) and okinawa and it was while I was stationed at the latter that the war ended on my 4th wedding anniversery august 14, 1945."
